Solid hostel, 10 times cheaper than some of the hotels but also 10 times the caulk. Old building, the main house is eclectic and the back patio is very pleasant. Stayed in a private room and it was very bare bones and weathered but the bed was comfy. All the amenities and good recs from the daily info board you could want from a local hostel. Also friendly service from everyone and Canal street is very convenient for public transit. Side note, when there's parades the train stops running and switches to buses that will get you most of the way down to the French Quarter. Service slows but you can always get a bus back late at night too.

This colorful hostel exemplifies everything that the City of New Orleans represents. A melting pot of personalities, a chill vibe but always ready to party! The staff also understands that sometimes plans change. When our stay had to unexpectedly be cut short, they refunded the extra days without hesitation. They earned my loyalty and will always be my first choice for future visits. They are very close to a Canal Street Car stop, so getting to the heart of the French Quarter is not an issue.

Maybe little further from the hustle and bustle of downtown than you might like, but it's literally steps from the streetcar that takes you right there in about 15 mins. Setting that aside--this place is AMAZING! Such a cool setting, interesting folks, polite staff, free coffee, etc. at an absolutely unbeatable price. I'll be coming back--I really enjoyed my time here!

The staff are authentic and kind and helpful; the rooms are charming and colourful and comfortable. It feels welcoming, familiar, and lived in — in the best ways. On-site laundry, ATM, and in-ground pool are *chefs kiss*. When I come back to New Orleans, I’ll be sure to return to India House. Mahalo nui! Y’all feel like home, and I feel lucky to have stayed.

If you’re expecting a traditional hotel experience, this isn’t quite that—but in the best way. The space has a cozy, welcoming vibe, and the staff were absolutely wonderful. Everyone was kind and helpful, and we had everything we needed during our stay like clean showers, a community kitchen, and accessible bathrooms. We spent most of our time out exploring the city, so while the room was small and simple, it was perfect for what we needed—a comfortable, relaxing place to come back to and unwind.

I spent 6 nights at India Hostel and loved it! The place was always clean, quiet, and comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly with figuring out what to do in the city and how to get there. I stayed in a private room and it was nice to have peace and quiet to come back to. Being located 1 block from a central street car line was super convenient for getting around. There is plenty of comfortable outdoor space if you're looking to take a day off from partying and just relax around the hostel too. I'll definitely be coming back to New Orleans and will definitely be staying here again. Thanks for a great stay!

I loved my stay! I made a call beforehand to check on some things, I spoke to Crowley and he was very helpful/polite. I was able to come to my bags off before check in, and when I came back was helped by another person who was very kind and gave me a tour. (The first guy said he was more new, he had a mustache and shaved sides on his head. He was really nice!! The second man was also really sweet, he had facial hair and a hat. Bland description but.. This was around 3PM on 4/10. Both were great!) The whole interior of the main house was clean, my room was so much better than the Priceline photos (they’re doing y’all dirty on there!!), and the pool was so cool! Everyone was upfront about house rules/expectations and there were many accessible ash trays outside. Other guests I spoke to were all very cool, overall for the price and being within 10 minutes of everything?? Hell yeah. Checking out was quick, Miranda helped and she was really sweet. Thanks guys!!
